Reflection & Goal-Setting: Starting 2018 On The Right Track

REFLECTING ON ALPHA’S 2017 GOALS:

As a business owner, I believe it is important to set intentional yearly goals for my company and then mindfully work to achieve those goals.  This year, I thought it would be fun to share my 2017 reflections as well as our 2018 goals with all of you!

In 2017, as a company, our biggest spurt of growth took place in quarters 1 and 2 and didn’t stop until the holidays.  We were also fortunate to grow our staff of 6 to a staff of 8 and we experienced some growing pains that nobody realized would happen.  However, these growing pains ultimately helped us to adjust course and grow even stronger as a company.

 

  • GOAL # 1: IMPLEMENT NEW INTERNAL SYSTEMS

    I decided to have team meetings and hone our internal systems and processes so the day-to-day of client quotes and discussions were more systematized. We implemented a print management system that allows us to keep notes, files and client information stored in one area.  It has been an invaluable step in streamlining our processes and improving communications.

  • GOAL #2: EDUCATE, INFORM & INSPIRE OUR CUSTOMERS THROUGH INCREASED ONLINE PRESENCE 

    We ramped up our website and social media campaign by hiring Lindsay Clark who has taken us from so-so content to a visual gallery that entices you to click on Alpha’s website. One of Lindsay’s biggest improvements was adding a page that emphasized that Alpha is women-owned.  Alpha’s been exclusively woman-owned for almost 11 years. I have gained so much knowledge from my trusted advisers about using this accomplishment to its full potential.

  • GOAL #3: ENGAGE MORE WITH CLIENTS BY HOLDING MONTHLY ALPHA ROW ACADEMY WORKSHOPS

    Another 2017 accomplishment, Alpha Row Academy, has been in such high demand to assist us in helping our community understand the print world and all that is possible through knowledge, inspiration and creativity.  It’s been a great way to meet new members of our creative community and to assist them in accomplishing creative goals for themselves.

    GOAL #4: EXPAND THE REACH OF CAKE & WHISKEY WOMEN’S NETWORKING EVENTS

    Baltimore Cake & Whiskey  is a brand all its own.  After bringing BmoreCakeNWhiskey to Baltimore back in 2014, the events have brought many women in business together and created powerful connections.  It exemplifies women, empowerment and support in Baltimore, which we need now more than ever.  December’s Cake & Whiskey event reached over 120K people on Facebook and brought together more than 300 local business women.  We were so pleased to work with talented designer Lynn Cipollone on a flyer for the event.  We also hosted a ticket giveaway which brought Regina Cagle Irr of Peas + Cheese Design and Kari Miller of Tiny Dog Press, and further extended the event’s reach.

LOOKING AHEAD-NEW GOALS FOR 2018:

We’re 100% committed to more growth in the coming year for our brand and that will not come by working more hours but by focusing on the important parts of our brand and leveraging our team better.  Now is the time to apply all of the lesson learned in 2017, to really tap into the magic that we’ve been creating.

  • GOAL #1: FOCUS ON OUR DESIGN & BRANDING ARM

    Alpha’s design and branding arm, TAG Design (TAG – The Alpha Group), will play a bigger part in 2018 as we look forward to helping women business owners brand and re-brand their businesses.  We’ve spent the last several years assisting clients with everything from logo design to complete branding suites with enormous success.  As more small businesses pop up, it’s more important than ever for businesses to stand out in the crowd, and we’re excited to help others achieve that goal.

  • GOAL # 2: CONTINUE TO SUPPORT & GROW CONNECTIONS BETWEEN OUR COMMUNITY OF WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS

    Baltimore was recently named the #1 City in the Country for Women Business Owners, with women owning over 23% of businesses in the city-a fact that we could not be more proud of!  This year, we’re focused on strengthening connections among Baltimore’s community of women business owners through our networking events. We’re expecting our biggest turnout yet to the Cake & Whiskey event on March 29 @ The Four Seasons Baltimore.

  • GOAL #3: LEVERAGE OUR ASSETS

    As a company, we are the strongest we have ever been.  Our team is comprised of incredibly talented, dedicated individuals who are obsessed with providing the best possible experience.  We want you to get to know them more in 2018, and to introduce you to all of their personalities and skills which make for such a special experience when you choose to work with us.

It’s been hard work to get Alpha where it is and I’m proud to say my team deserves a round of applause for going above and beyond for our clients and working as a team to help bring us here.

I am also so grateful for all of you amazing women and men in our Alpha Community who continue to inspire and challenge us with each year.  As a thank you for all of your support, we designed these awesome Baltimore notebooks that you can pick up with your January order!
